What does High Tor mean?
High Tor and Low Tor are the two peaks of South Mountain in the Hudson Palisades which line the Hudson River in Northeastern New Jersey and Southeastern New York. At a mere 797 feet, High Tor is the highest peak in all of the Palisades. Best viewed from the east side of the river, the sheer cliffs of the Palisades tower over the Hudson and their humble beauty is truly inspiring.
